Fire Station

The project for the Fire Station in Zapopan is composed of two different volumes, one on top of another. The lower volume was designed to accommodate the different emergency vehicles used by the fire brigade and facilitate the maneuvers of arriving and leaving the station, it was also important to exhibit the vehicles to the citizens, therefore we opted to make the lower volume a semitransparent space where the fire engines could be appreciated from the outside: the mighty heroic equipment in a state of expectancy, waiting to be called. The upper volume on the other hand, is a closed concrete volume, where the living quarters of the firefighters are located, a classroom and administrative offices for the station. A series of steel perforated louvers painted in red are installed on the main façade of the concrete volume to increase privacy and to signal the ever-present state of alertness of the people working inside.
